Stabenow Celebrates Rosa Parks 100th Birthday, National Day of Courage
Senator Stabenow joined in the celebration at the Henry Ford Museum for what would have been Rosa Parks' 100th birthday on Monday. The museum held a national day of courage in Mrs. Parks' honor, and the U.S. Postal Service unveiled a new stamp commemorating her life.
"It was such an honor to be a part of today's celebration," Stabenow said. "Rosa Parks was one of our country's most important civil rights leaders, and her courage is still an inspiration to people across the country."
Senator Stabenow and other speakers encouraged guests to take part in the Day of Courage activities. The bus on which Rosa Parks was arrested was recently acquired by the Henry Ford Museum and thousands of visitors have toured the eblem of the civil rights movement.
