Senator Stabenow Teams Up with Actor Bradley Cooper to Highlight the Importance of Mental Health

Friday, Feb 1

Senator Debbie Stabenow joined Oscar-nominated actor Bradley Cooper and former Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) at an event today highlighting the importance of mental health care in our country. Cooper stars in Silver Linings Playbook, a film about a young man living with bipolar disorder.

"In the aftermath of the tragedy in Connecticut and too many others like it, it is important to do everything possible to keep our children safe. Strengthening our mental health services is a critical part of that," said Stabenow. "It was wonderful to join Bradley Cooper to push for improved mental health care services."

Next week Senator Stabenow, along with a bipartisan group of colleagues will introduce the Excellence in Mental Health Act. The bill puts mental health centers on more equal footing with other health centers by improving quality standards and expanding access to ensure more people can get the mental health care they need.
