U.S. Ambassador Donald S. Beyer Jr. makes 20th Stop on Tour of Swiss Cantons (Apr 26, 2011)

On Tuesday, May 3rd, U.S. Ambassador Don Beyer makes his 20th official Cantonal Visit, in Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
The ambassador enjoys learning more about Switzerland during his very own Tour de Suisse. The first visit was to Graubünden in October 2009 and since then he has travelled through the Cantons of Ticino, Schaffhausen, Zug, Schwyz, Jura, Vaud, Glarus, Neuchatel, Valais, Uri, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Solothurn, Basel Stadt, Basel Landschaft, Geneva, Appenzell Innerrhoden and Thurgau.
Ambassador Beyer toured the Museum for Immigration in Zillis, the Foundation Zoubov in Geneva, and the Palace in Lugano.  He took a boat trip to the Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen, he has been to the Zug Kirsch Cake Manufactory and the Fassbind Distillery in Schwyz. He has passed through the town gates in the small medieval town of St. Ursanne in Jura, visited Medtronics in Vaud, observed the progress of the “Linthal 2015” power project in Glarus, visited the Musée International d'Horlogerie in Neuchatel, rowed the biggest natural underground lake of Europe in Valais, walked along the “Weg der Schweiz” in Uri, taught at the  Middle School of Nidwalden, toured the Chateau Waldegg in Solothurn, wandered through the Warhol exhibit at the Kunst Museum in Basel, and stooped through the sewers of the Roman archeological site Augusta Raurica in Basel Land. His last visit was to Thurgau with its beautiful Schloss Frauenfeld.

Am Dienstag, 3. Mai, ist US Botschafter Don Beyer beim Kanton Appenzell Ausserrhoden zu Besuch. Es ist sein 20. offizieller Kantonsbesuch in der Schweiz.
Der Botschafter geniesst es, während seiner ganz persönlichen Tour de Suisse mehr über die Schweiz und ihre Kantone zu erfahren. Der erste seiner Kantonsbesuche war im Oktober 2009 in Graubünden und seither war er im Tessin, in Schaffhausen, Zug, Schwyz, Jura, Waadt, Glarus, Neuenburg, Wallis, Uri, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Solothurn, Basel Stadt, Basel Landschaft, Genf, Appenzell Innerrhoden und Thurgau.
Die Presse ist zum ersten Teil des Kantonsbesuchs in Appenzell Ausserrhoden im Kantonsratssaal ab 11:00 Uhr eingeladen.

Anschliessend steht Botschafter Beyer für Photos und kurze Gespräche zur Verfügung.
