CREW VISAS FOR SWISS INTERNATIONAL AIR LINES PERSONNEL

The U.S. Embassy in Bern is aware of the impending expiration of almost 2,000 crew visas for personnel of Swiss Int. Air Lines.  Most crew visas were issued in 2001-02, when Swiss changed ownership, and will expire in 2011-2012.

The Embassy and Swiss Int. Air Lines .have established procedures to facilitate the efficient reissuance of crew visas for Swiss Int. Air Lines personnel.  Personnel are responsible for complying with internal Swiss regulations regarding flight rotations, rosters, obtaining employment letters and payment slips, etc.  From the side of the Embassy, Swiss Int. Air Lines crew renewing their crew visas should call the Visa Information Center [0900-87-8472 (Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 17:30; SFR 2.50/min), to make an appointment (no e-mails or faxes are accepted)].   Identify yourself to the Visa Information Center as a "Swiss Int. Air Lines member."   Special appointment time blocs have been set aside on particular afternoons until the end of 2012 for Swiss Int. Air Lines personnel seeking issuance of new crew visas.

Swiss Int. Air Lines personnel should have an official letter from the airline certifying their continued employment.  All other documentation requirements pertaining to non-immigrant visa applicants apply to crew visa applicants (see http://bern.usembassy.gov/required_documentation.html).
