The Information Resource Center (IRC) can provide reference and research services to Italian librarians and those conducting research which may require access to U.S. based source material. Our collections are almost entirely electronic; we can access dozens of commercial and government databases and/or help you get in touch with other American libraries and research centers. Journals and Magazines

We subscribe to over thirty journals and magazines, with a focus on international relations, U.S. politics, and current events. Titles include The New Yorker, The Economist, Foreign Affairs, National Geographic, Smithsonian Magazine, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and Wired.  We are able to forward copies of specific articles upon request.

In addition to our print subscriptions we have access to hundreds of periodicals through online databases. Please contact us if you’d like to know if we carry a particular title or if you have an article request.

Reference Collection

Our online reference collection is focused on U.S. based reference materials; various directories, almanacs, encyclopedias, who’s who, and government documents. Please contact us to discuss any reference requests.

U.S. Government Policy

We can assist in locating and retrieving documents on U.S-Italy bilateral relations, U.S.-European Union and other regions relations, speeches and statements by the U.S. President or other U.S. officials, treaties, biographical information on American political leaders, web sites for official U.S. government policy, think tank research on U.S. policies and much more. Please contact us with your request.

U.S. Legislative Information

We can offer assistance to those who want to learn a bit more about the systems of the U.S. Federal Government or we can obtain copies of legislation and legislative information.  We have access to a range of U.S. law and legislation  online resources. Please contact us with your request.

Speakers and Events

The IRC organizes an annual Spring Event with U.S. experts on topics of interest to librarians and information professionals.  From time to time, we also organize smaller events with single speakers to give presentations in Italy. We also arrange digital video conferences (DVCs) when a speaker is unable to appear in person.
