Urgent care services are medically necessary services required for an illness or injury that would not result in further disability or death if not treated immediately but does require professional attention within 24 hours. You could require urgent care for conditions such as a sprain, sore throat, or rising temperature, as each of these has the potential to develop into an emergency if treatment is delayed longer than 24 hours. TRICARE Prime enrollees at Kimbrough require prior authorization for civilian urgent care. Failure to obtain prior authorization may result in out of pocket expenses under the Point of Service Option.
How to access Urgent Care for all TRICARE Prime Beneficiaries enrolled to Kimbrough:
During normal clinic hours -Contact the appointment line 301-677-8800 between 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., M-F to request a same-day or next day appointment with your PCM.
After normal clinic hours; weekends and holidays, and while traveling (PCS moves, leave or vacation) – Patients enrolled in TRICARE Prime to Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center should call1-301-677-8800 to speak with an on call provider. For more information please view Getting Care WhenTraveling

Beneficiaries enrolled in TRICARE Prime and assigned to Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center should contact the appointment center at 301-677-8800 to schedule a follow up visit with their assigned Primary Care Manager within 24 hours or the next business day to coordinate follow up care.
Additional Information
Beneficiaries using TRICARE Standard and TRICARE for Life do not require prior authorization to use TRICARE authorized urgent care facilities, applicable annual deductibles and cost shares apply.
