The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad strongly encourages all U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Iraq to sign up for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).  STEP enrollees receive informational, security, and emergency messages via e-mail from the Embassy. 

The Embassy also offers SMS text alerts delivered to your mobile phone when new security and emergency messages are released.
