Transfer an Immigrant Visa Case

From Embassy Baghdad to another Embassy/Consulate

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from Embassy Baghdad to another U.S. Embassy/Consulate, we will need to receive a formal request from the other Embassy/Consulate.  Upon receipt of this request, we will immediately forward the file to them for processing.  To get the transfer started, you should send an email request to the Embassy/Consulate where you wish to apply, explaining the reason for the transfer.  It is also a good idea to include evidence of your legal permission to remain in the country where you wish to process the visa.  Please click here for a list of all U.S. Embassies and Consulates.

From another Embassy/Consulate to Embassy Baghdad

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred to Embassy Baghdad, you should contact the Immigrant Visa Unit and explain why.  If we approve the transfer, we will contact the Embassy/Consulate that currently has your file to arrange for the transfer to Baghdad.  Please note that it can take several months for the file to be transferred.
