The U.S. Consular Section in Accra is committed to fast and courteous communication.  We have listed different ways of contacting us.  Email is the preferred communication method.  Once your email is sent, you should receive two “automatic” responses from us; if you did not receive our automatic responses then we did not receive your email.

For American Citizen Services inquires (NOTE: this does not include visa inquires, only inquires directly relating to services provided to Americans) please see American Citizen Services.

For non-Consular related inquires, (such as questions about filing an immigrant petition or refugee processing) please see DHS.

Consular Information Unit

The Visa Information Unit answers telephone and written inquiries on case-specific nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters. The Visa Information Unit does not schedule visa appointments nor can they issue or refuse visas.

  • If your inquiry concerns Immigration Visas or the Diversity Visa Lottery, please send your email to IVDVACCRA@state.gov
  • If your inquiry is regarding Non-Immigrant Visas, please send your email to NIVACCRA@state.gov.

Responses to written inquiries are sent within five (5) business days.   Do not send personal documents, i.e. bank statements to our offices.  We do not return documents received in the mail and we cannot take responsibility for those sensitive documents.
