Governments are "full of incompetent people," Julian Assange said in a recent interview "And the more secretive the area is, the more incompetent it becomes bec...ause there’s no proper oversight." Such is the case with the Consular Section of the US Embassy in KL - INCOMPETENT! As an American - I just want everyone to know that the consular (visa) section of the US Embassy is extremely unfair and difficult to work with - if you are a sex blogger like Alvin Tan - please know that getting to stay in the US is no problem - however if you are a top students wishing to go to a conference on emphasizing social justice in the US for just a few days - they will not grant you a visa - of they will use different standards for different persons applying - and the same standard that grants one student a visa might be the standard for which another student is denied - they have know knowledge as well of Malaysian culture - I am completely disgusted and ashamed of the consular section. Also if they ask you to bring in documentation to support your cause do not expect them to even look at it - it is rather stupid - they tell you to bring in documentation and then when you bring it in they will not even look at it - if you want other incidents that I can document of their duplicity and unfair treatment of applicants I will be happy to provide it - I realize that they have final say in granting visas - but I have the freedom to publicize their unfair behavior and that is what I plan to do See More

I was at the Embassy again yesterday to get myself a new Visa (lost my previous one). It was very slow as there was only one person working (non-immigrant visa ...application). Provided the visa officer with a police report - my visa was then approved, no question asked.
But please, please, please. Ask the "usherers" to at least have a smile on their faces. One of the girls had a sour face throughout.

As American citizen I am very please with the US Embassy here in Malaysia they went up and behind to help me with my husband visa they where very understanding... and caring which I am truly thankful for . Keep up the good work . I get sick and tired of people saying there against the Muslim faith and that is so not true because I am a muslim and they didn't judge me or my husband based on our faith .. they have guidelines that our set bye the US Government they must follow when approving Visa's .. This consulate section in KL has been making bias and judgmental decisions since very long ...
I would rather advice someone not to waste their money and effor...ts in expectation of getting their visa approved.. as nevertheless the decision is solely under the discretion power of visa officer who doesn't even consider your documents and don't give a damn regardless of how important your trip could be. The decision taken would be based entirely upon the mood of visa officer nothing more then that.
Such a crap!!

Everyone at this embassy is awesome! My wife lost her Permanent Resident Card during our trip through South East Asia. The staff at the embassy gave us VIP trea...tment at all times and helped us secure all needed documents just in time for our trip to Thailand! Turn around time was less than 24 hours!! Really made us feel like we were back home! Thank you for your assistance. Love USA See More

It is sad to say that the American Embassy in KL lacks the ability to do what other embassies from other countries do to help their citizens. I'm not sure if th...e treatment towards me was somewhat racial or it's just the way our embassy here do their job. I wish they can be more helpful to the American citizens with any kind of help possible. See More

I have been coming to the conclusion that the U.S. embassy in Kuala Lumpur doesn't really care about their U.S. citizens abroad. I've been trying to get some ki...nd of transparency on my situation but it seems that the only thing that I'm get is look at the website and a feeling of them brushing me off. I have a new born son here and my wife needs a visa for the United States its kind of urgent because I've been stuck here for months now but they don't seem to care if my family is on the street or not. The removal of signatures from the petition asking that your government not to interfere with Malaysia sovereignty showed the neo-imperialist culture of US. It'...s also showed it's unable to accept true democratic process. My whole family signatures were removed, now we definitely know, the US government is full of hot air. See More

I am a genuine supporter of the voice of freedom but removing petition for release Anwar is not really considered as very democratic and it is suppressive to the people that US is being hypocrisy and contradiction to Obama administration which I admired very much

When you see the U.S. president, you are also likely to see the U.S. Secret Service in its most high-profile role: standing at the ready to protect the commander in chief.

What else do they do? Here are 5 things you might not know about the Secret Service:

The Secret Service protects the U.S. president and vice president and their families. But it also has a key investigative role to play.

February 11 is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This year, on the second annual #WomenScienceDay, we recognize the critical role women and girls play in science and technology communities.

Via Univision, we share the inspiring stories of Aisha from Mexico, Anely from Peru, Camila from Chile, and Jasmin from the United States. The girls participated in a Women in Science (WiSci) camp for girls to learn about the science, technology, engineering, art and de...sign, and mathematics (STEAM) fields.

“Aisha, 16, inherited her love for math from her father, who helped her when she started learning algebra at just eight years old. Anely is fascinated by computer science and by the idea of women getting ahead.”
