International visitors add greatly to the U.S. cultural, educational and economic life.  We are proud of our tradition of welcoming visitors, with secure borders and open doors.  Nationals of most countries, including Cameroon, must have a visa to travel to the U.S.  The most common types of visa are Business/Tourist Visas and Student Visas. The type of visa needed is defined by immigration law and is determined by your purpose of travel.  The consular officer will confirm which type of visa you need when you apply.

How to Apply for a Non-Immigrant Visa – Just 3 simple steps 

1. All applicants must use the DS160 online application form found at https://ceac.state.gov/GENNIV
2. After completing your DS160, choose an appointment date and time by clicking on the “Schedule Appointment” button on https://evisaforms.state.gov/default.asp?postcode=YDE&appcode=3. 
   
   Each individual requesting a visa needs to have an appointment time.  You must use your passport number and the valid bar code from your own application when you make your appointment.  If you fail to do so, your appointment will be cancelled.
   
   If an appropriate date is not available please keep checking the website as the schedule changes constantly and appointments become available almost daily. Please also see our policies on visa renewal and expedited visa appointments. 
3. Appear at the consulate on the day of your interview fully prepared with your confirmation page of the DS-160 application form.  Applicants should arrive no sooner than 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment time and no later than 30 minutes after the appointment time.  You will not be admitted for an interview if you arrive 30 minutes prior to or subsequent to your appointment time. 

Important Note: The United States Embassy in Cameroon requires Cameroon citizens applying for immigrant and non-immigrant visas to present machine-readable passports. Older hand-written passports lack security features that protect against counterfeiters. This requirement does not apply to travelers with diplomatic and service passports.
