USAID/OCD GIVE DONATIONS FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

December 15, 2010

As part of the continuing support to the Panamanian Government for the flood relief, the Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (USAID/OFDA) sent, through the U.S. Embassy in Panama, more than $80,000 of assistance for disaster support. The donations include 3,000 cotton sheets, 3,072 hygiene kits, 3,000 10-liter water containers and 100 plastic sheets. To reach areas which were isolated due to flooding, USAID/OFDA hired air support and facilitated fuel for transportation. The U.S. Government continues to support the people of Panama, providing an additional $70,000 for local purchases of disaster relief items and last week Ambassador Phyllis Powers gave the First Lady donations from the Embassy community.
