Diplomatic/Official Visas

HOLDERS OF DIPLOMATIC OR OFFICIAL PASSPORTS TRAVELING FOR PERSONAL REASONS

If you are the holder of a diplomatic or official passport and are applying for a visa for personal travel, you do not need to make an appointment for an interview.  Diplomatic passport holders do not need to pay the visa fees.  Official passport holders must pay the visa fees.  Please come to the Consulate any Monday or Wednesday (except U.S. or local holidays) at 2:00 PM.  You will be interviewed and your fingerprints will be taken. Please be aware that the hours change during Ramadan, you can come any Monday or Wednesday at 12:30 PM.

If the principal applicant holds a diplomatic or official passport but other members of the group do not, you may all come to the Consulate with the principal applicant to be interviewed together.  However, holders of regular passports must pay the visa fees.

It is possible to have more than one U.S. visa at a time.  You can have a tourist visa for personal travel as well as an official visa for government travel.

HOLDERS OF DIPLOMATIC OR OFFICIAL PASSPORTS TRAVELING FOR OFFICIAL BUSINESS, OR HOLDERS OF REGULAR PASSPORTS TRAVELING FOR OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT BUSINESS WITH A DIPLOMATIC NOTE

Holders of diplomatic passports traveling to the U.S. on official government business  do not need to pay the visa fees and do not need an interview.  The same applies to holders of regular passports traveling on official government business with a diplomatic note.  Please drop your passport off at the Consulate with the following documents:

  • Printed barcode from the confirmation page of your online application
  • Note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Etat-Major, International Monetary Fund, World Bank, or United Nations
  • Other ministries must get notes from the MFA
  • The note should explain the purpose and length of travel, and should give specific job titles and descriptions

Please fill out the online application fully and correctly. Applicants who submit incomplete applications will be asked to correct their forms, which can result in the delay of visa issuance

NOTE TO MILITARY TRAVELERS: You must correctly answer the questions on the application regarding your military experience and firearms training. Incorrect response to these questions will result in automatic refusal of your application until your responses have been corrected.
