Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy Lisbon

Deputy Chief of Mission Lucy Tamlyn arrived in Lisbon on December 30, 2010. Ms. Tamlyn is a career Foreign Service Officer with the rank of Minister Counselor. She joined the Foreign Service in 1982.

Ms. Tamlyn has served overseas at U.S. Missions in Colombia, Austria, Mozambique, Brazil, Italy, Chad, Iraq and Paris. She has also served in the State Department’s Bureau of Economic & Business Affairs and Bureau of International Organization Affairs.

Reflecting a career-long interest in multilateral diplomacy, Ms. Tamlyn has over 12 years of experience at UN Missions, including assignments in Rome, Vienna and New York.

Ms. Tamlyn’s most recent assignments were as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in N’Djamena, Chad, Leader of the Regional Reconstruction Team in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and Economics Counselor at the U.S. Mission to the OECD in Paris, France.

Ms. Tamlyn has a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University, School of International Affairs.
