Step 3: Schedule Appointments by Telephone or Internet

  • You will schedule two appointments:
    • An appointment to go to the Applicant Service Center, where you will have your fingerprints and photographs taken, as well as sign up for courier delivery.
    • An appointment for your visa interview at the Consulate.
  • The two appointments cannot take place on the same day, nor can they take place more than seven days apart.
  • You cannot schedule your appointments until you have paid the Applicant Service Center fee ($26 USD).
  • If you paid the Applicant Service Center fee at a Banamex branch, you received a personal identification number (PIN). After 24 hours of paying the fee, the PIN will be activated and ready to use to schedule your appointments.
  • Refer to the Visa Information/Appointments section of How to Contact Us for telephone numbers and internet web site address.

Additional Information

  • You cannot schedule your appointments until you have paid the Applicant Service Center fee.
  • For information about Call Center hours and rescheduling and cancelling appointments, refer to the Visa Information/Appointments section of How to Contact Us.
  • When making your visa appointment, you will be making a “new” appointment, not a “renewal,” if your visa expired more than a year ago, or if your visa was lost, stolen or taken by authorities.
  • When you go to the Consulate for your interview, you must surrender your current visa, even if it is still valid. If your new visa is approved, it may take four to five weeks to receive it. Do not schedule your appointments during a time when you need your visa.
  • Print the Visa Checklist (PDF 116KB) to record your appointment dates and times. Take the Checklist with you to your appointments as a handy guide to the appointment process.
