Paying U.S. Taxes

All U.S. Citizens must report their income to the IRS each year. Living or earning income outside the United States does not relieve a U.S. citizen of the responsibility for filing tax returns.

Many Mexicans who work in the United States or derive income from U.S. sources are also required to file annual income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service.

Every year the American Citizen Services Unit receives a selection of federal tax forms and information booklets, but does not have state tax forms. You may come to the Consulate to pick up these forms if you wish.

For more information and for online tax forms, you can also visit the IRS home page.
