This lithograph is one of five remaining small, oval-framed prints of Speakers in the House Collection. The acquisition date is unknown, but this print appears in stereoviews of the Capitol dating from the 1870s. The Andrew Stevenson lithograph was printed in London, and the likeness appears to have inspired the 1911 Speaker portrait of him by Spencer Nichols.
