Opportunities for Libyan Undergraduate Students

What is the Undergraduate English Language Program (UELP)?

The Undergraduate English Language Program (UELP) will enroll 10 Libyan undergraduate students in an eight-week intensive English language courses at a college in the United States beginning in June, 2010. This program will train participants in English for academic purposes, as well as the development of general reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

Who can apply?

The Undergraduate English Language Program (UELP) is open to Libyan citizens who are first, second, or third year B.A. or B.Sc. students, between 18 and 25 years of age at the time of application, and have TOEFL test results of approximately 420 – 480.

A complete application includes:

  1.  A Signed Printed Paper Application
  2.  A Clearly Written Personal Statement
  3.  A Professional Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume
  4.  Three Letters of Reference from Academic or Professional Supervisors
  5.  Academic Transcripts and Diplomas
  6.  TOEFL or Proposed Dates of Enrollment in the Test
  7.  Color Copy of Passport Information Pages (English and Arabic) and 2 Passport-Size Photos

Please deliver your completed application packet to the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy located in Tripoli on Jeraba Street, behind the Libyan Swiss Clinic.

The deadline for submitting completed application packages is December 22nd, 2009
