Know Your Rights

If you are coming to the United States for work or study, we are confident you will have a pleasant and rewarding stay.  If you encounter any problems, however, you have rights and can seek assistance.

Recent changes to U.S. law delineate the legal rights of employment-based non-immigrant visa holders under federal immigration and labor laws.  As a temporary visitor to the U.S., it is important you are aware of your rights, protections, and the resources available to you when working or studying in the U.S.

If you are applying for a visa to work or study in the U.S. (e.g., “F”, “H2”, “B-1 domestic”, “H1”, “TN”, “L”, “P”, and “E” visas) please review the Nonimmigrant Rights, Protections and Resources pamphlet (PDF 252 KB) before your interview.
