    In South Africa, Secretary Clinton payed her respects to ex-President Mandela, and participated in the U.S.-South Africa Strategic Dialogue focusing on the partnership between our two countries in addressing issues of mutual concern and our shared challenges on the African and world stage. Secretary Clinton is accompanied by a U.S. business delegation.

    December 13, 2010: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane signed a memorandum of understanding, laying out a framework for strategic dialogue between the United States and South Africa. The strategic dialogue will reinforce cooperation in key areas.
