Report on Applications of GIS to Highway Noise Analysis
Now available online
FHWA sponsored a research study to investigate current uses of GIS to support highway noise analysis. The final report from the study is now available here. A text-only version is also available here.
The report presents eight case studies that illustrate how select state Departments of Transportation are using GIS and geospatial tools for highway noise analysis. Major findings compiled from case studies are expected to support GIS and noise practitioners identify examples of noteworthy practices, consider the pros and cons of GIS applications for noise, and determine how these applications might be best utilized.
