Curbing vandalism

In 2011, the total amount of reported vandalism cases on Kadena was four. Six cases have already been documented in 2012. From February to April, more than 30 housing units were broken into, totaling more than $11,000 in total damages. (U.S. Air Force graphic/Naoko Shimoji)

Taking the spice out of life

In 2011, nine Kadena teenagers were banned from all U.S. military bases in Japan due to spice-related incidents. In the first six months of 2012, there has already been seven cases. For military members, using spice will end a career. Dependents caught with spice or distributing the product may be subjected to barments, mandatory substance abuse counseling and community service. Women’s History Month poster for 2012

The graphic elements chosen for our Women’s History Month poster for 2012 in support of the theme “Women’s Education – Women’s Empowerment” are the following quotes from Virginia Woolf referencing women’s worth in American Society and as part of our combined history and from Louisa May Alcott on overcoming adversity,” said Mr. Peter Hemmer, DEOMI Illustrator, describing this year’s Women’s History Month poster. “The floral wallpaper and feather were chosen to signify growth through education and limitless opportunity due to empowerment,” he said.
