A Georgia Air National Guard Double Header
Celebrating Command and Promotion

Tonight, the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum served as the choice location for an evening celebration for Colonel Todd Freesemann and the State of Georgia’s newly minted Lieutenant Colonel, David Simons.

Colonel Freesemann assumed command of Savannah’s Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC) in December 2009 but out of deference to outgoing commander, Colonel Floyd Harbin, elected to postpone any celebration until now. Since assuming command of the CRTC, Col Freesemann’s command watch has included the completion of the new aircraft ramp area and the full utilization of a new 300+ bed dormitory. Previously, Col Freesemann served as the Director of Support for the 165th Airlift Wing, commanding the Mission Support Group to include Civil Engineering, Military Personnel, Logistics, Services, Communication, Contracting, Aerial Port, Security Forces and Medical.

Major General William “Terry” Nesbitt, Georgia’s Adjutant General for all National Guard personnel, signed the promotion order for Major, now Lieutenant Colonel David Simons. LTC Simons has served as the Public Affairs Officer for the 165th Airlift Wing for the last thirteen years, consistently working to raise the awareness level of Coastal Empire to the service and sacrifice of the men and women of the Georgia National Guard. Prior to his service in the 165th Airlift Wing, LTC Simons served in the US Army, earning the Green Beret and serving in its special forces. He is also the founder of the Simons Political Group.
