Steven Jones is currently the Deputy Director of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, an agency with over 7,500 employees and a budget approaching $5.4 billion. He oversees the Divisions of Aging and Adult Services, Child Care and Early Childhood Education, Youth Services, Services for the Blind and Volunteer Services.  In this role, Steven works directly with the Division Directors in areas that encompass both state and federal programs, such as elder care and adult protective services, child care centers, at-risk youth and delinquent youth services facilities, educational and vocational training for persons with impaired or no vision, and volunteer programs like AmeriCorp in various communities. Prior to becoming Deputy Director of the Department, Steven served for six years in the Arkansas House of Representatives.  He was chair of the Peer/Review Committee and the Rail and Mass Transit Subcommittee. His previous experience also includes; serving as a member of the Earle Arkansas City Council, Vice Chair of the Arkansas Educational Television Network Commission, Chairman of the Delta Service Corps Board of Directors, serving on the advisory board of a regional bank, general manager of a major Northeast Arkansas publishing firm and founder/managing principal of an Arkansas based marketing and government relations firm. Steven is married to Dr. Susan Ward-Jones. They reside in Marion, AR.
