Agency Reorganization
To maximize the agency’s talent pool and streamline our operations, NCPC's planning staff is now organized within four divisions:
Urban Design & Plan Review
Urban Design & Plan Review coordinates and reviews development projects of federal agencies, District of Columbia agencies, and other local jurisdictions in the capital region. Its staff prepares the recommendations the Commission uses to make decisions at its monthly meetings, and they provide planning expertise and technical advice to federal, state, and local agencies.
Physical Planning
Physical Planning guides the design, visualization, and implementation of Commission policies that are focused on physical features or a specific geography. Its projects include transportation and security planning as well as Monumental Core Framework Plan initiatives.
Policy and Research
Policy and Research conducts research on critical issues facing the federal government in the National Capital Region, evaluates policy options and priorities, and works with federal and local partners to develop agendas for public and private action. Its projects include the CapitalSpace park management plan, the federal elements of the Comprehensive Plan, and the Federal Capital Improvements Program.
Intergovernmental Affairs
Intergovernmental Affairs fosters partnerships and facilitates communication among state & local jurisdictions, federal agencies, and civic stakeholders throughout the National Capital Region. Its work includes coordinating inter-agency teams and projects, sponsoring regional outreach and forums, and initiating regional policies and model projects.
