Forward:Franchised Business Ownership, 2007: Minority and Gender Groups

David A. HinsonMinority-owned businesses continue to shine as the engines of job growth in the United States economy. These businesses provide nearly six million jobs, and annually generate $1 trillion in economic output. Supporting this output is the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), a bureau in the U.S. Department of Commerce. MBDA is the only federal agency tasked to promote the growth and global competitiveness of minority-owned firms. MBDA assists minority-owned firms in gaining access to capital, contracts and new domestic and international markets.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for your kind introduction. On behalf of President Barack Obama and Acting Secretary Rebecca Blank, I am delighted to be with you this afternoon. The Minority Business Roundtable is an invaluable asset for this nation’s nearly 6 million minority-owned businesses.

The efforts undertaken by Roger and his team to ensure that these businesses are engaged in the policy arena has truly helped them have a hand in their own competitiveness. Nearly four years into the Obama Administration there is increasing evidence the American economy is moving forward again.

Introduction of Mr. John Rogers, Jr. MBDA National Director Special Recognition

One of the fringe benefits I have as National Director of the Minority Business Development Agency is meeting and working with a lot of talented people. Our 2012 MED Week award winners is one such group of people . . . and they represent a much larger circle of Americans who are dedicated to their business, profession, family and community.
