Vitter, Fleming Announce Academy Day on Saturday in Bossier City

(Washington, D.C.) -- U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) today announced that staff from his office as well as Rep. John Fleming’s M.D. (R-LA) office will conduct an Academy Day on Saturday, April 30 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Bossier Parish Community College.  Vitter and Fleming have invited representatives from the Military, Air Force, Naval, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard Academies who will be able to explain the nomination process to potential applicants and the requirements for applying to each academy.

“Attending a military academy is a real honor and a great opportunity for students to serve our country and obtain a post-secondary education,” Vitter said. “This Saturday will be an excellent chance for students and their families to learn more about the academies.”

“I am very proud to be hosting this service academy day with my colleague Senator Vitter,” Fleming said. “As a former Navy officer, there is no higher calling than serving in our armed forces and there are no finer institutions than our service academies that prepare you for this service. Academy Day is a great opportunity for students and families to learn more about our service academies.”

Academy Day is free and open to the public. All high school students and their parents are welcome to attend. Students who are unable attend can contact Vitter’s office at (504) 589-2753 for more information on the application process.

Vitter and Fleming will be represented by staff at Academy Day, and will not personally be attending.
