NRCS Offers New Opportunities for Farms, Woodlands and Wildlife

Madison, Wis........NRCS has announced that farmers interested in new farmland conservation practices must apply by Jan. 18 to be considered for 2013 funding. Applications are being taken for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) at all USDA Service Centers in Wisconsin. Madison, Wis.......Over 14,000 acres of cover crops were funded on 183 Wisconsin farms through a special sign-up for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program.  Farms in the southern half of the state that were designated disaster counties were eligible for the special sign-up, which closed Aug. 24. posted Sept. 4, 2012  .....Read more
 

NRCS Announces Assistance in Drought-Affected Counties

Madison, Wis…… NRCS has announced additional funding and technical assistance for landowners in the drought-afflicted counties. Through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program, NRCS can offer cost-share payments for cover crops . Governor Jim Doyle has declared 2006 as the “Year of Soil” in Wisconsin. “The crown jewel of the Year of Soil is the completion of the soil survey for the entire state of Wisconsin,” said Wisconsin State Conservationist Pat Leavenworth, USDA NRCS.   Read more...
