ORNL DAAC Product Overview
The biogeochemical and ecological data products and services available
from the ORNL DAAC are organized by project and classified into four
primary categories: Field Campaigns, Land Validation, Regional and Global
Data, and Model Archive. The following links provide access to all available
data products:
Field campaigns combine ground-, aircraft-, and satellite-based measurements of biogeochemical features in specific ecosystems over multi-year time periods.
The ORNL DAAC compiles, archives, and distributes more than 600 products from the following NASA-funded field campaigns:
- BOREAS and BOREAS Follow-On
- FIFE and FIFE Follow-On
- LBA
- OTTER
- SAFARI 2000
- Superior National Forest (SNF)
Data are available from the following NASA-funded Projects:
and through the following resources:
Regional and global biogeochemical dynamics data can be used to improve
our understanding of the structure and function of various ecosystems;
to enable prediction across spatial and temporal scales; and to
parameterize and validate terrestrial ecosystem models.
The ORNL DAAC compiles, archives, and distributes more than 150 products:
- Climate Collections
- Hydroclimatology Collections
- ISLSCP II Project
- Net Primary Productivity (NPP)
- River Discharge (RIVDIS)
- Russian Land Cover (RLC)
- Soil Collections
- Vegetation Collections
- Vegetation-Ecosystem Modeling (VEMAP)
Archiving environmental numeric data model products has become recognized as a vital research practice because it improves our ability to reproduce results, to perform additional analyses, and to synthesize results while investigating new hypotheses.
The ORNL DAAC compiles, archives, and distributes numerical models including the source code, input data, and output results in two tiers. The first tier supports the storage and retrieval of benchmark model versions, and the second tier supports the association of published research results with specific model implementations. Model products include:
- Biogeochemical process models
- Biosphere simulation models
- Ecosystem process and response models
- Land surface models
- Scalable vegetation models
