Consular Section Cancels Visa Interviews Scheduled for August 9, 2010

Because of the severe air pollution situation in Moscow, the American Embassy is cancelling nonimmigrant visa interviews scheduled for Monday August 9. These interview appointments will be rescheduled to a later date, and applicants will be informed of their new interview date by Pony Express. Non-interview cases submitted to the Consular section through Pony Express will continue to be processed as usual.

Immigrant visa interview appointments for Monday August 9 are also cancelled, except for adoption cases. The Embassy’s Consular section will continue to provide normal visa services for adopted children, including document intake and visa interviews.

The Embassy’s American Citizen Services Unit will operate as usual, providing emergency services, as well as non-emergency services to those who have made appointments.

The Embassy will evaluate this situation on a day-by-day basis, and will resume full consular services as soon as atmospheric conditions permit. Other sections of the Embassy continue to work as usual.
