Congressional Events and Information

Congress funds nanotechnology research and development and establishes policies formulating the regulation of nano-products and materials. Federal agencies allocate funds and implement nanotechnology-related regulations. Congress passed National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), and President George W. Bush signed the 21st Century Nanotechnology Research and Development Act into law in 2003.

Recent Congressional hearing activity has involved efforts tried to change and extend the NNI. There have also been budget hearings which included NNI funding. Nanotechnology-related caucus meetings and events are also routinely held on Capitol Hill.
