Current Research:
Nate's research interests include the quantitative aspects of the ecology and management of marine fishes. Nate coordinates the SouthEast Fishery Independent Survey (SEFIS), a fishery-independent survey that indexes the abundance of reef fishes between North Carolina and Florida. Current projects include how spatial autocorrelation in reef fish catches influences indices of reef fish abundance, development of metrics for indexing reef fish abundance using underwater video, and creating novel ways of determining the spatially-explicit effects of various environmental or density-dependent variables on fish abundance.
