Siena/Francis House Permanent Supportive Housing Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

The new Siena/Francis Permanent Supportive Housing consists of two facilities. They each have 24 efficiency apartment units (48 total units). Each apartment will house a homeless man or woman who has a disabling condition. The new apartment facilities are constructed along 18th Street, directly west of the existing facilities. They complement the family and single men's shelters, as well as the transitional housing that the organization currently provides.

The disabled, homeless persons who will live in these efficiency apartment units will also have the ability to utilize the services provided in the soon-to-be-completed Community Services Facility. Each person living in the apartment units will pay $250 rent, which includes utilities.

The new facility opened the first week of November. A total of 29 tenants have moved into their apartments. The Siena/Francis House will be providing support services - case management, job training for those who are able, etc.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has also provided funding for this project. HUD funding consisted of $640,000 in Supportive Housing Program (SHP) funds - capital dollars and $113,000 in SHP for services and operations for a period of 2 years. Total project cost is $7.2 million.
