NIH MD/PHD Partnership Training Program

Current Students

Students in our program combine Ph.D. research in one of NIH’s Graduate Partnership Programs with medical school training within a U.S. MD/PhD program. Our goal is for students to participate as fully as possible in the activities of their NIH Ph.D. program. Even if they are not receiving the Ph.D. degree from the medical school, we expect students to participate in the university MD/PhD program, including attendance and presentations at annual retreats and student symposia.

During the research phase of training, we have created a full program of clinical and translational research activities at NIH and selected university Ph.D. partners to enable students to maintain clinical skills and explore different medical specialties for their future careers as physician scientists.
