Nancy Keteku, Regional Educational Advising Coordinator for Africa, visited Nouakchott January 30 - February 2.  On Sunday morning, January 31, she gave a multimedia presentation to graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Nouakchott on “How to Get Funding for Graduate Studies in the US.”  The embassy’s Public Affairs Officer and Student Advisor also spoke to the students, most of them English majors in the school’s Faculty of Letters.

That afternoon, she met with ten students and teachers who have been awarded study grants in the prestigious William Fulbright Academic Exchange Program; she gave them a thorough and practical Pre-Departure Orientation on what to expect and how to prepare for their upcoming American experience. Ms. Keteku also attended the weekly general advising session at the University of Nouakchott’s American Corner, where she answered individual questions and explained to about 25 walk-ins the Admissions process for most U.S. colleges and schools of higher learning.
