Passport Delivery

You may choose any of the following options for passport delivery.  You will be notified by email when your new passport arrives at the Consulate.

Pick Up 

If you opt to pick up your CRBA or passport in person, you may do so between 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding the last Wednesday of the month and American or Indian holidays.  You do not need an appointment to pick up your CRBA or U.S. passport. 

Registered mail/ Speed post  

To receive your new U.S. passport by the Indian Postal Services registered mail/speed post, please present a self-addressed envelope with postage for Rs. 70.00 for U.S. passport delivery.

Please submit the envelope at the time of your appointment at the Consulate.   

Courier Service 

The courier company for delivery services of U.S. passports and CRBAs has changed from VFS to First Flight effective September 26, 2012.  Demand drafts payable to VFS will no longer be accepted.  

 If you wish to use courier service for delivery of your passport and/or CRBA, please complete the courier slip (PDF 55 KB) and present a demand draft made out to “First Flight Couriers LTD” for Rs.300.  The demand draft has to be payable at Chennai.  Any variation from this will not be accepted by First Flight.  Drafts can be drawn on any nationalized or foreign bank operating in India.  Drafts of co-operative banks are not accepted at this time.  We cannot accept cash for delivery service. 

At the appointment, you will be asked to provide the First Flight demand draft and courier slip for each individual applicant.
