The Muthanna Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) together with Coalition physicians began a program to work with local Iraqi doctors to raise their basic medical skills.

The PRT's Medical Portfolio manager organized the first of what is planned to be an ongoing monthly medical mentoring program in Muthanna whereby coalition physicians accompany their Iraqi counterparts on hospital bedside rounds. The goal is to introduce best practices with respect to disease, injury diagnosis, and therapy.

Both U.S. and Iraqi doctors enjoyed the exchange and discussed ways in which they might expand the program in the future, focusing on the most difficult cases at Samawah hospital.
