Erbil RRT Utilizes Supports Mobility Aids for Handicapped Victims of War and Torture

Erbil RRT supported a much needed project to provide 320 wheel chairs, 300 toilet chairs, 400 crutches and 400 aluminum trusses to the War and Torture Victims Organization in the Kurdistan Region, which then distributed the items to handicapped people in the Region. There are tens of thousands of victims in the Kurdistan Region who are handicapped as a result of Iraq's three decades of war and who lack the ability to take care of themselves or move about in the community.  The equipment allows for greater mobility for over 500 handicapped individuals in the Kurdistan Region and will allow them to take a more active role in the social life of their communities and be better able to take care of themselves, thereby reducing the strains on associated family members and caretakers.
