Kirkuk’s PD section gathered representatives from the PRT’s Agricultural and Operations Sections for a visit to one of the five sites of Kirkuk’s first NGO-implemented Youth Summer Camp.  The civilian and military PRT members who hailed from all over the U.S., visited the camp’s English classes to chat with approximately 100 female and 10 male campers, aged 11 to16, discussing life in the US, American schools, and how American diversity influences both.  The students and the American visitors also discussed Kirkuk’s diversity and the value of such multiculturalism in creating a rich and prosperous democratic society.  The PRT reps also encouraged the young Kirkukis to pursue university education and their dreams of being doctors, lawyers, teachers, singers and police officers.  The campers, who were celebrating a Performing Arts Festival day, also performed dance, song and theater pieces that they’d prepared during the summer program.  The students expressed their gratitude to the PRT for sponsoring their program, saying that they had thoroughly enjoyed the camp so far and hoped to be able to participate again next year.
