CA Bryophyte Pictures

Images of California Bryophytes

This site is meant to eventually provide photographs, drawings, and scanning electron micrographs of mosses, liverworts, and the few hornworts found in California. When you've tried to identify a moss using the articles of Norris and Shevock (Madroño 51: 1-269) and Doyle and Stotler (Madroño 53:89-198), you never really know whether you got the identification right. A picture helps reassure you, or at least if you are on the wrong track completely, the picture will tell you to start over. At the moment the website is in its infancy: hopfully many more pictures will become available. If you have photos that you would like posted, please contact me (paul.wilson@csun.edu). The .jpg and .gif files that I've put up are low resolution (to save memory and load fast), but I would like to have high resolution files in case we ever want to do something else with the pictures (publish a book). Please provide information with pictures. Vouchers would be very much appreciated and unless specified otherwise will be deposited in SFV. Please send corrections when you find mistakes.
