Mission

The overall mission of the US Embassy in Harare is:

• To protect the interests and safety of American citizens in Zimbabwe,

• To present US government policies and concerns to the government and people of Zimbabwe,

• To assist with Zimbabwe's development and humanitarian needs,

• And to build lasting personal and institutional linkages between the people of the United States and Zimbabwe.

In 2010 our top priorities are:

• To Foster Free, Transparent  and Accountable Democratic Systems;

• To Support Delivery of Quality HIV/Other Infectious Disease Prevention, Care and Treatment Programs;

• To Improve Quality of Security, Law-Enforcement and Justice Institutions;

• To Provide Effective Humanitarian Assistance to Vulnerable Groups; and

• To Promote Economic Recovery and Growth Through Free Markets
