Lineage. Constituted as 406 Air Base Squadron on 13 Apr 1956. Activated on 1 May 1956. Inactivated on 15 May 1958. Redesignated as 406 Combat Support Squadron on 22 May 1970. Activated on 1 Jul 1970. Inactivated on 14 Jul 1972. Redesignated as 406 Expeditionary Mission Support Squadron, and converted to provisional status, on 1 Feb 2003. Redesignated as 406 Expeditionary Force Support Squadron on 17 Mar 2011.

Assignments. 406 Support Group, 1 May 1956-15 May 1958. 406 Tactical Fighter Training Group, 1 Jul 1970-14 Jul 1972. United States Air Forces in Europe to activate or inactivate at any time after 1 Feb 2003.
