Lineage. Constituted as 5 Station Complement Squadron on 5 Apr 1943. Activated on 10 Apr 1943. Disbanded on 15 Apr 1945. Reconstituted, and redesignated as 5 Logisitics Support Squadron on 29 Aug 1991. Activated on 1 Sep 1991. Redesignated as 5 Maintenance Operations Squadron on 3 Sep 2002.

Assignments. Third Air Force, 10 Apr 1943; VIII Bomber Command, 8 Jun 1943; 2 Bombardment (later, 2 Air) Division, 13 Sep 1943-14 Apr 1945. 5 Logisitics (later, 5 Maintenance) Group, 1 Sep 1991-.

Stations. Jacksonville Municipal Aprt, FL, 10 Apr-26 May 1943; Hardwick, England, c. 6 Jun 1943-14 Apr 1945. Minot AFB, ND, 1 Sep 1991-.

Service Streamers. World War II European-African-Middle Eastern Theater.
