Lineage. Constituted as 73 Tactical Control Flight on 24 Jun 1969. Activated on 25 Jun 1969. Redesignated as: 73 Tactical Control Squadron on 15 Aug 1988; 73 Air Control Squadron on 1 Nov 1991. Inactivated on 31 Jul 1992. Redesignated as 73 Expeditionary Air Control Squadron, and converted to provisional status on 1 Jun 2005.

Assignments. 728 Tactical Control Squadron, 25 Jun 1969; 507 Tactical Air Control (later, Air Control) Wing, 1 Mar 1977; 354 Fighter Wing, 1 May 1992-31 Jul 1992. Air Combat Command to activate or inactivate at any time after 1 Jun 2005.
