Lineage. Squadron D, 27 Airdrome Group (designated on 28 Jul 1947; organized on 15 Aug 1947; discontinued on 1 Aug 1948) and the 27 Food Service Squadron (constituted as 27 Food Service Squadron, Fighter, Two Engine, on 14 Jun 1948; activated on 1Aug 1948; redesignated 27 Food Service Squadron, Fighter, Jet on 16 Dec 1949; 27 Food Service Squadron on 1 Feb 1950; inactivated on 16 Jun 1952). Consolidated (10 Oct 1984) with the 27 Services Squadron (constituted as 27 Services Squadron on 28 Jan 1969; activated on 8 Jun 1969). Redesignated: 27 Morale, Welfare, Recreation and Services Squadron on 21 Apr 1992; 27 Services Squadron on 1 Jan 1994; 27 Special Operations Services Squadron on 1 Oct 2007; 27 Special Operations Force Support Squadron on 9 Jan 2009.
 
Assignments. 27 Airdrome (later, 27 Air Base) Group, 15 Aug 1947-16 Jun 1952. 27 Combat Support (later, 27 Support, 27 Mission Support, 27 Special Operations Mission Support) Group, 8 Jun 1969-.

Kearney AAfld (later, AFB), NE, 15 Aug 1947; Bergstrom AFB, TX, 16 Mar 1949-16 Jun 1952 (deployed at: Itazuke AB, Japan, 10 Dec 1950-30 Apr 1951, with advanced echelon deployed at Taegu AB, South Korea, Dec 1950-Jan 1951; Kunsan AB, South Korea, 1 May-23 Jun 1951; Itazuke AB, Japan, 24 Jun-8 Jul 1951). Cannon AFB, NM, 8 Jun 1969-.
