Lineage. Constituted 72 Air Base Squadron (Special), and activated, on 1 Aug 1941. Redesignated 72 Base Headquarters and Air Base Squadron on 13 Jun 1942. Disbanded on 30 Apr 1944. Reconstituted, and redesignated 72 Air Base Squadron, on 3 Jan 1952. Activated on 1 Feb 1952. Inactivated on 16 Feb 1953. Redesignated 72 Mission Support Squadron on 16 Sep 1994. Activated on 1 Oct 1994. Redesignated 72 Force Support Squadron on 8 Jul 2008.
