Visas

Welcome

The U.S. welcomes temporary travelers with open doors and secure borders. Foreign travelers to the United States make great contributions to the American economy, culture, and education.

We hope this site helps explain the different types of U.S. visas, the application process, and the requirements needed in order to receive a visa.

All Mauritanian citizens wishing to enter the United States must first obtain a visa. This visa can be a non-immigrant visa for a temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence.  Nationals of certain countries are not required to have visas if they are traveling to the United States for tourism and a visit of 90 days or less.  Click here for more information about the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

Do not wait until the last minute! Inform yourself about visa application requirements and apply for your visa at least four (4) weeks in advance of your planned travel dates. Everyone applying for a visa, including applicants renewing a visa, are required to appear in person at the U.S. Embassy.
