Airman chosen to dance with President Obama
Staff Sgt. Bria D. Nelson from the 579th Medical Operations Squadron, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C., under the Air Force District of Washington recently found out she will dance with President Obama at the Presidential Inaugural Committee's Commander-in-Chief's Ball at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center Jan. 21, 2013. Nelson, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., and the NCO in charge of Explorer Family Health Element at JBA-B went through a competitive process to have the opportunity to dance with the president. Airmen Against Drunk Driving Hotline Available
Airmen 1st Class Andrea Blankenship, who leads Airmen Against Drunk Driving on Joint Base Andrews, has set up a Hotline for Air Force Service members to call and get a ride home if their drinking plans fall through. The rides are free and confidential. The AADD hotline is 240-857-RIDE(7433). As long as AADD has adequate volunteer coverage, it runs every Friday and Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. They also adjust the schedule for holidays and down days as needed. 579th Medical Group participated in the the fourth annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
On April 28th, the fourth annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, the DEA and its partners around the country collected 552,161 pounds—276 tons—of unneeded prescription medication.
