OFFICER OPPORTUNITIES 

If you have a college degree or are about to earn one, you may qualify to become an Air Force officer -- one of the select people we're counting on to lead the world's preeminent air and space power into the 21st century.

Eligibility 

A baccalaureate or higher degree from an educational institution listed in the current Accredited Institutions of Post Secondary Education is required. However, exceptionally well qualified initial appointment applicants may request a waiver of the degree requirements. If waiver of the degree requirement is approved, applicant must complete degree requirement within a specified amount of time.

• Be a United States Citizen
• Be commissioned prior to 35th birthday
• Pass the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT)
• Be in good physical condition
  

Training

All officer candidates must attend the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science (AMS) (excluding Chaplains, Health Professions and Lawyers) at the Training and Education Center (TEC) for 6 weeks in Knoxville, TN. The course provides basic instruction in management, leadership skills, military customs and courtesies and other subjects to help you become a successful leader in today's Air National Guard. Graduates of AMS are commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the Air National Guard. Many career fields require attendance at a technical training course related to the specific career to which you are being assigned. Technical training courses can last from several weeks to as much as a year.

Military Grade

Your military rank is determined by a combination of your education, training and experience.

Military Pay

A combination of your rank and length of any prior military service will determine your pay.

Selection Process

Candidate selection will be based upon a combination of the individual's application package and formal interview.
