The Advancing Freedom and Democracy Report describes efforts by the U.S. Government to support democracy and human rights in nondemocratic countries and countries undergoing democratic transitions worldwide. The U.S. Department of State submits this report in accordance with the ADVANCE Democracy Act of 2007.
Current Report: 2011
The Advancing Freedom and Democracy Report replaced the Supporting Human Rights and Democracy Report (2003-2006). The Supporting Human Rights and Democracy Report complemented the annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices and detailed U.S. Government actions to encourage respect for human rights. The U.S. Department of State submitted this report in accordance with the Fiscal Year 2003 Foreign Relations Authorization Act.
